Function
The Buffer station can buffer and separate up to five workpieces. Diffuse sensors at the beginning of the conveyor detect the inserted workpieces. Light barriers upstream and downstream of the separator control the process: If the transfer point is free, the separator passes on a workpiece. The separator is actuated by a short-stroke cylinder with a deflecting mechanism. The end positions of the short-stroke cylinder are detected by means of end-position sensors

Adaptable: This station fits anywhere

The transport concept is simple: when a station has finished its process, it waits for a signal from the downstream station. The workpiece is transferred as soon as the downstream station is ready to receive it. Workpieces are buffered to optimise flow between stations with different process times. In MPS, this task is undertaken by the Buffer station. The Buffer station can be located at almost any point in a combination.

Demanding project: Upgrade to Sorting station

The Buffer station is a complete station – built using the components of the modular conveyor system. There are a number of upgrades for the station, making it ideal for interesting project work. Additional modules enable workpiece features to be tested and workpieces to be assembled and sorted. Upgrading with the modular conveyor system makes it into a complete Sorting station.
